- analyze ads
Target audience, is a specific group of people at which a product or the marketing message of a product is aimed at.
One of the biggest mistakes that branders make is trying to appeal to everyone.
ASSIGNMENT:
Find four ads that would fit each of the categories:
- young children
- high school students
- bikers
- retirees
Create a Doogle Doc and paste these 4 images there.
Analyze each ad by answering the following questions for each image.
(Copy and paste the questions into your Word document)
Questions to ask
- Who is the target audience?
- What is being advertised? (product, service, political ideas, etc.)
- What is the color scheme of the ad? How many colors are used? Dominant color?
- How does the color scheme support the product to make it attractive for the audience?
- Is there an emphasis in the ad?
- How many typefaces are used in the ad? What typefaces are used and how they support the product? What is the color of the text?
- Is there a lot of text? Is it easy to read? How much of this text would you read?
- How many images are used in the ad? Are they big or small? Are they easily seen? Are they good quality?
- Overall impressions:
do you like the flow of the ad? why?

Would you change the ad? How?
EXAMPLE

- Who is the target audience?
athletes - What is being advertised? (product, service, political ideas, etc.)
product: shoes - What is the color scheme of the ad? How many colors are used? Dominant color?
mostly achromatic (greyscale) with a splash of 2 colors
– red and yellow - How does the color scheme support the product to make it attractive for the audience?
red is a logo color, yellow is an accent color, both yellow and red are energetic colors, yellow focuses on the shoe action - Is there an emphasis in the ad?
web address and text, shoe - How many typefaces are used in the ad? What typefaces are used and how they support the product? What is the color of the text?
2 fonts (in the logo and
the main text), all white - Is there a lot of text? Is it easy to read? How much of this text would you read?
Not a lot of text, simple font is easy to read, I would read only the large text block - How many images are used in the ad? Are they big or small? Are they easily seen? Are they good quality?
2 images: athlete and shoe, both are easy to see, excellent quality - Overall impressions:
do you like the flow of the ad? why?
