You will need to submit five high-quality, finished pieces that demonstrate a masterful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas.

Representing 40% of the total score, these works highlight technical skill and conceptual, and can be curated from the Sustained Investigation or produced independently.

Key Aspects of Selected Works:

Submission: Five digital images of five distinct works, focusing on 2-D skills like graphic design, photography, collage, or painting.

Requirements: For each piece, students must submit written responses (100 characters max) describing the materials, processes, and ideas (or inquiry) demonstrated.

Focus: The goal is to show a “finished, polished” look—a highlight reel of the best technical skill and conceptual depth.

Versatility: Works can be related or unrelated, allowing for a variety of media or a cohesive thematic display.

Synthesis: Scorers look for how materials and processes work together to express the main idea.
Integrity: All pre-existing work or outside images used as references must be cited.

What to Include in Written Responses:

  • Idea(s): What concept or question is visually evident?
  • Materials: What tools, media, or substances were used?
  • Processes: What techniques (e.g., painting, digital editing, printing) were applied?
